This is a standalone QQI Certified module, or part of the 6M4985 Business Major Award or an ideal award with the 6S3372 Training and Development Award

Course Summary

This module aims to provide you with the relevant knowledge, skills and competence to conduct assessments, understand certifying body requirements and gain an understanding of a diverse range of assessment tools - appropriate to a wide range of learners.  The principles of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) assessment will be covered on this module as an added bonus.

Course Delivery - QQI Level 6 Administration Practice - 6N2228

  • Online Classroom-based, face-to-face 'Live Tutor instruction in an online class environment. 
  • Workplace learning. Blended learning (hybrid model where a portion of learning is classroom-based and a portion of which is online learning. 
  • Tutor support available between classes (online, text, WhatsApp, email, telephone, face-to-face, and optional Lir Study Sessions).

Entry Requirements - QQI Level 6 Assessment Practice - 6N2228

  • ENTRY LEVEL:
  • In order to commence this programme, you must have either successfully completed a programme at a level 5 QQI Certificate/ equivalent qualifications.
  • If you do not have the required qualification they may also be eligible if you can demonstrate that you have the necessary skills to complete this module. 
  • If you have a Level 5 Certification and a computer skills qualification at Level 5 in Word Processing and Spreadsheets, and/or life/work experience at that level or higher.

  • COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • IT/Computer Skills - sufficient working knowledge of computers.  
  • You must have access to a PC (desktop), laptop or mobile device with internet access, Windows 8 or later or a Mac with OSX 10.5 or later, a browser with the latest version of Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari, Adobe Reader to view PDFs.   
  • Camera: Your device must have a working camera and audio. PC must be capable of playing video and audio files.  
  • Software: We can provide you with access to Microsoft 365 Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams).    

  • SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING:
  • Blended Learning: You must be self-motivated and be able to take responsibility for your own self-directed learning, outside the 'Live' Tutor online classes as you complete your blended learning course, or in the Fully Online Self-paced modules.  
  • Be disciplined in self-directed learning in line with practical preparation, study, and reflection time where appropriate. You have to set time aside.
  • You will be expected to:  fluently read, draft, prepare and understand material which is relevant and reflects a broad personal knowledge. fluently read, draft, prepare and understand quantitative data.  problem-solving within a group or a number of groups and independently.    
  • It is expected that you will have a range of learning styles, strengths and needs related to the programme and have the capacity to take responsibility for your own learning within the managed classroom and online environment, provided by Lir Business Services & Training Centre.

  • Learners must reside in Ireland.    

  • INTERVIEW:
  • The interview process ascertains existing levels of knowledge, skills competence and English language proficiency. 
  • A copy of your current Curriculum Vitae or certificate.

  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE:
  • Learners will also require a good command of the English language and have a recognised English language qualification.     
  • An assessment of English writing and comprehension may be given to ensure equivalency with English language speaking and learning to assess a minimum standard level.    
  • Leaving Certificate (H7/06 in English).
  • English Language:  This course is completed using the English language. 
  • QQI 5N1642 English as a Second Language (merit or distinction).  
  • QQI 5N0690 Communications Level 5 (merit or distinction).  
  • CEFR - Common European Framework for Languages (level B2 or higher).
  • A competency test may be carried out for English language and literacy and/or computer skills to ensure that you have the skills necessary to complete the programme.   
  • IELTS Indicator Test The minimum score is 6 unless otherwise stated. 
  • TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition The minimum score is 92 unless otherwise stated.  
  • Duolingo English Test The minimum score required is 95 unless stated otherwise.  
  • Exam English If you are unsure of your current level, you can take a free test on sites such as this one.

Certification and Assessment - QQI Level 6 Assessment Practice - 6N2228

Following the successful completion of this module, you will receive a QQI Level 6 component certificate in Assessment Practice (6N2228) from QQI.  

Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland.  

Lir Business Services & Training Centre Ltd is registered with QQI, as a Private Training Provider,  to offer programmes leading to QQI  awards on the National Framework off Qualifications in Ireland (N.F.Q.)     

Learner Progression: Learners who successfully complete this module may use the associated credits towards a relevant Major Award.    

Skills Demonstrations: 40%, Learner Record 30% and Exam: 30%    Grading: Pass 50% - 64%, Merit 65% - 79%, Distinction 80% - 100%

6N2228 Duration

A Blended and Online Course with 'Live' Tutor classes, optional Virtual Office Hours and Tutorials. 6 x morning classes or  8 x evening classes plus self-directed learning with online support. Always check with Upcoming Course Schedule for start dates.

This course comprises of 1 module. The duration of this module is typically 150 hours. This is a combination of 50 hours of Directed Learning and 100 hours of Self-directed learning. The 50 hours of Directed Learning takes place in Classroom Attendance and 'Live' Tutor Online Classes. Self-directed Learning is learner-led, and it includes self-directed study, through Lir eLearning Hub.

This will entail preparation and reflection time on your part. There are Virtual Office Hours (Lir Study Zone) throughout the week also to give you the opportunity of meeting your Tutor online, if you have any queries.

Progression - QQI Level 6 Assessment Practice - 6N2228

Upon successful completion of a Major award, learners can progress to an award on the next level on the NFQ.

Alternatively, the Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS) gives learners the opportunity to use their QQI Level 5/6 Major Award to apply through the CAO for a place in the first year of a higher education programme.

In some instances, progression is on the basis of specific Level 5 or 6 Major Awards, Learners should check with the higher education institution prior to commencement. Components (Minor Awards), or achievement of less than 120 credits, will not suffice for progression under the HELS
